End of time at Entebbe

On July 16th, I got caught in a downpour at Entebbe Botanical Gardens and had to curtail birding. I soon realised my camera had been waterlogged as a result. It was put in a closed container packed with dry rice overnight. The next day it had mostly recovered though the image stabilisation was the last function to come back.

This blog covers what I saw in the Botanical Gardens that day and what I saw in the hotel gardens adjacent to the Botanical Gardens the morning after.

  • 38 species seen before the rain came down
  • 67 species seen overall at the Botanical Gardens
  • Lifers seen on the last two visits were: black and white shrike-flycatcher and northern black flycatcher
  • A gaber goshawk landed in the hotel gardens
  • Next stop on my East African tour was Kigali, Rwanda
